Golden grove's Environmental Commitment
Welcome to Golden Grove Holiday Park. We hope you enjoy your experience with us.
We believe in protecting the beautiful environment of the Bay of Plenty and feel we have a responsibility to operate our Mount Maunganui accommodation in a way that minimises the environmental and social impact of our activities. We actively try to reduce any adverse effects by buying wisely, using resources efficiently, and disposing of waste responsibly.
The feature of our area is Mauao or ‘The Mount’ which rises to 232m at the entrance to Tauranga harbour. It has great historical importance and cultural significance. We have included the legend in our compendium for you to read.
Some of the things Golden Grove are doing include:
Energy:
All buildings are modern and insulated. Appliances are modern and energy efficient. We use energy saver bulbs where possible. We use timers and sensors to control lighting in communal areas.
Water:
We have timers on our communal showers, and water saving devices and fixtures on toilet cisterns and shower heads. The plants in our gardens are predominantly chosen for survival in drought and coastal conditions. We use mulch on our hedges and gardens.
Waste:
We try to reduce waste where we can by reusing and recycling. Waste management stations are located throughout the park to encourage the responsible disposal of waste through recycling.
We take an active part together with our community neighbours, businesses, school and churches to address local issues and support local initiatives. We are conscious of being a responsible neighbour. We buy and employ locally as a priority, and support businesses with similar environmental aims.
What you can do:
Energy:
Turn off lights and electrical appliances when not in use. Switch off the heater when you are out. Close doors in the cold weather to keep the heat in. Hang clothes on one of our clothes lines to dry instead of using the drier.
Water:
Minimise the amount of water you use in the park.
Waste:
Take the time to sort your rubbish correctly and put in the appropriate bin. Recycle books and magazines through the library in the TV room.
